Meet Pauline

Thriving, connecting, and giving back at Greytown Orchards

When Pauline’s daughter Felicity first visited the Greytown Orchards show home, the village was just beginning to take shape. “It was modern, peaceful, and beautifully set out,” Felicity recalls. “I suggested Mum take a look—it felt like the perfect next step.”

From that first visit, the decision was simple. “Everything just felt right—the villa, the timing, the location. It all aligned,” says Felicity. With the paperwork a breeze and the welcoming energy of the community already present, Pauline made her move from Whanganui.

A Full Life, Reimagined
Far from slowing down, Pauline is busier than ever. “Mum’s always on the go,” says Felicity. “She’s made a fantastic group of friends, volunteers with community organisations, and she’s now just a short walk from her grandsons at Greytown Primary.”

Greytown Orchards has given Pauline the space and time to flourish. She’s started a book club, helped organise the community library using her decades of teaching experience, and regularly takes part in social evenings, petanque matches, and tending the shared veggie gardens. “It’s like watching her step into a new chapter filled with joy and purpose,” Felicity adds.

The best decision

Moving to Greytown Orchards has been transformational for the whole family.

Friendship, Family, and Fresh Starts
Being part of Greytown Orchards has strengthened the bond between Pauline and Felicity, too. “After 26 years in different towns, living nearby again has been amazing. We’ve grown even closer, and through Mum, my kids and I now know so many lovely people in the Greytown Orchards community.”

That sense of intergenerational connection is something truly special. From spontaneous chats on village walks to shared community events, it’s a lifestyle rooted in togetherness and belonging.

The Right Move at the Right Time
For Pauline, Greytown Orchards isn’t just a place to live—it’s a place to thrive. “She’s got her independence, her new friends, and we’re right around the corner. It’s exactly what we hoped for,” says Felicity. “She doesn’t even need the emergency button—she’s out there living!”

Pauline may miss her old family home, but the benefits of her new life far outweigh what was left behind. “We all have such peace of mind knowing Mum is in a warm, modern, and friendly place, surrounded by good people and close to everything she needs.”

A Life-Changing Choice
Moving to Greytown Orchards has been transformational—not just for Pauline, but for her whole family. “Mum is now part of our daily lives, and she’s surrounded by a strong, supportive community,” says Felicity. “It’s been life changing.”

If you’re considering a new chapter for yourself or someone you love, Felicity has one piece of advice: “Do it. Don’t wait. Greytown Orchards has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.”
