Greytown Orchards Retirement Village Announces Development of Care Facility for South Wairarapa.

In exciting news for the South Wairarapa region, Greytown Orchards Retirement Village, owned by Hawke’s Bay-based family business Tumu, is pleased to announce the early-stage design of a purpose-built care facility. This new facility will complement The Lodge, a vibrant community hub currently under construction. Together, these projects will contribute to the region’s healthcare and lifestyle infrastructure.

With architects engaged and planning underway, the care facility will provide hospital-level care, including a dedicated memory-care wing. The concept design features a mix of 28 hospital care rooms and care suites and 10 memory care beds, providing much needed options for the growing needs of an ageing population in the region.

The Lodge, due for completion in the third quarter of 2026, will complement the future healthcare investment. A stylish and welcoming community space, it has been designed to enhance resident wellbeing and social connection. The Lodge will feature an indoor heated pool, library, gym, activities room, café and bar, and indoor and outdoor social spaces, as well as areas for pétanque and BBQ spaces.

“This is a vital investment in the future of our community,” says Paul Reeve, Tumu Director. “These developments reinforce Greytown Orchards’ long-term commitment to resident wellbeing and complete the continuum of care journey, allowing residents to transition smoothly from independent living to assisted support and hospital-level care as their needs evolve”.

Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.
